About Paul

2012 has been a momentous year for Paul Chowdhry. After headlining BBC1's 'Live at the Apollo' and his second series of CH4's prime-time stand-up show, 'Stand up for the Week', he embarked upon his second national UK tour to sell out theatres including the Hammersmith Apollo (recorded for DVD release with Universal Pictures). Prior to this, he sold out the Indig02 in 2010 and 2011, a feat unheard of from non-mainstream TV comedians. This confirmed his position as the UK's No.1 Asian comedian with over 4million YouTube views. Paul is hot comedy property. In 2013, he made a cameo appearance in the hit reality TV show 'Made in Chelsea' and appeared in 'Celebrity Family Fortunes' for the Text Santa charity. Chowdhry was a cast regular on series three and four of CH4's satirical show 'Stand Up For The Week'. In May 2012, Paul Chowdhry performed at the 02 Arena for CH4 in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, alongside a stellar cast of comedy legends including Michael McIntyre, Jonathan Ross and Lee Evans. He will return to the 02 Arena on the 18th May 2013 for GOSH. He has been described by Eastern Eye Newspaper as a “dangerous comic genius” and is never far from controversy. He was a topic of discussion in tabloids across the UK and CH5's 'The Wright Stuff 'after a racist heckler attacked him. A huge acting talent, Chowdhry can be seen in the 2011 feature film 'Swinging With The Finkels' alongside Martin Freeman and Jerry Stiller. Chowdhry also appeared in 'Colour Me Kubrick' with John Malkovich. This adds to his appearances in a number of prestigious and high profile films such as: 'Rogue Trader' with Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel and 'It Was An Accident' alongside Thandie Newton. Paul Chowdhry has distinguished himself as one of the most talented and popular comedians to have recently emerged. He is one of the few comics with the ability and diversity to effortlessly straddle the urban and main stand-up circuits as an international headline act. Paul's highly charged dry observational humor taps into the multicultural diversity of contemporary Britain. Best Of British This revolutionary underground comedian has twice sold out the Indig02, West End's Leicester Square Theatre and many other major venues across the country. He has also featured as the headline act of 'The Comedy Store TV Special' & 'Comedy Blue' series for the Comedy Central Channel. He presented on MTV's comedy weekend and featured on 'The Young Gods of Comedy' to rave reviews. Paul is amongst the few comedians to perform at the 02 Centre, Wembley Arena and The Grosvenor House before Cherie Blair and Richard Attenborough. He was chosen by The Telegraph as a 'must do' show of the year. Internationally Acclaimed He has starred in 'The World Stands Up' and 'The All-New Comedy Store' for Paramount Comedy Channel and USA's Comedy Central. Paul became the first British act to perform at the Caribbean Comedy Festival in Trinidad to an audience of 30,000. He has also performed nine sell out shows at the NEC Birmingham. Paul was also the host of the AMA (Asian Music Awards) at the Hammersmith Palais. He performed at The Panasonic Theatre in Toronto, Canada as a part of 'The World Comedy Clash' showcase. An established international act, he also performed tours of Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Amsterdam, Germany, South Africa and headlined the International Indian Kings of Comedy tour. Paul's courageous search for the absurd in issues such as racism, terrorism and religious fundamentalism is funny around the world.
