About Dai

Just starting out, I am a stand-up comedy embryo. No, not even that. I am a stand-up comedy sperm: age 48, who hasn't even made it to the egg yet. A teacher of 20 years, I am not a one-liner comedian by trade. Arriving late into the world of stand-up, as from another planet, I am glad to be here, taking my first tentative steps. Born in North-Wales and now living in Mid-Wales, I have gone far. But English speakers beware! If you refuse to laugh I will have to continue my set in Welsh. I like using observations, anecdotes and satire. My immediate aim is to improve tomorrow on what I can do today and my noble long-term goal is to match Ken Dodd for his stand-up quality, duration and longevity. I love the absurdities and irrationalities of life and try to bring these into my stand-up as much as possible. I cover lots of different topics in my material - absolutely anything that takes my fancy. From paedophilia to grannies driving cars; from dog collars to Mick Jagger; from Nigel Farage to my own nicknames: why should comedy be deprived of anything funny?
