FAQ

What is your refund policy?

Refunds can be requested up to 24 hours before the show that you have tickets for. No refunds can be given if the request is sent 24 hours or less beforenthe show date and time as we wouldn't be able to sell the tickets again. We can move your tickets to another date dependant on availability. This can be done once only.

I'm celebrating a special occasion, can I hire the venue?

Yes, we have several areas that you are able to hire in the venue. Please visit our venue hire page for more information.

What happens if an act that is advertised changes?

From time to time we have to replace acts for various reasons. If this happens we will always replace with a like for like act that we're sure will do a fantastic job. In this instance our normal refund policy applies.

Do you offer group discount?

No, we offer very competitively priced tickets so are already great value. Our shows also get very busy so we feel it's unfair to the smaller groups to offer a discount to any other audience member. We do however offer free entry if it is your birthday.

I have a complaint, what next?

If you have a complaint about something that is disrupting your experience, please query this with the staff on the night. We will do all we can to quickly rectify this for you.

We respond in every instance in due course, once the matter has been investigated.

Do you have security?

Yes, our shows will have security staff in attendance who may perform bag searches or ask for ID upon entry to the comedy club. Please do not feel offended by this as it is just to ensure that we provide a safe environment for everybody in attendance.

Do you have a smoking area?

Yes, our smoking area is located on the balcony. We politely ask you not to smoke near the entrance to the comedy club to allow other guests to use this entrance as normal.

Do you have an age restriction for your shows?

Our licence allows under 18's to attend shows until 10:30pm. We don't have an age restriction in place but do advice parental discretion due to our shows having swearing in a lot of the time.

What disabled facilities do you have?

We have a full disabled accessible lift from the entrance on Seel Street which leads into the comedy club through the performance space. We also have a hearing loop installed and have full disabled toilet facilities located inside the venue.

Can I heckle or talk during the show?

No, heckling and talking amongst your group while the comedians are on stage is not part of a comedy night. This also ruins the show for nearby audience members. We kindly ask that if you plan to heckle or talk whilst the acts are on stage that you do this at another comedy club. Anybody repeatedly talking or heckling during any show will be aske to leave without refund. 

Can I bring my large group/hen/stag to the comedy club?

Yes, comedy is a fantastic place to bring a larger group especially our professional weekend shows. We would kindly ask that larger groups take note of all the normal show rules like no heckling/talking whilst acts are on stage etc. We don't allow fancy dress inside the performance room. You will be refused entry on the night if you turn up in fancy dress so please do not be offended.

Please note that some of our midweek shows do not allow large groups at all. This is because of the type of show which may vary from new acts or new material which is not suitable for large groups. Please check the individual events for more information.

Once the comedy show is over, is that it?

Not at all, our venue has a late licence and we have live entertainment after most of our shows. You'll find some of the best local musicians performing in the bar area every week.

We have booked as part of a large group, will we be sat together?

Yes, as long as you've booked under the one booking name or have let us know in advance which bookings are to be joined together then you'll be sat together. Groups that have booked individually and not notified us that it is one large group may be sat in separate parts of the theatre as all seating allocation is done before anybody arrives.

Will I be picked on if I sit near the front?

No, friendly banter may be part of the night so you may be spoken to at some point during the show but we do not book any acts who would specifically pick on any audience member.

Where is the nearest parking space, bus station or train station?

I ended up working late and missed last nights show, can i get a refund?

Unfortunately not, your seat would've been waiting for you right up until the show started meaning we could not sell it on to somebody else.

What time do the shows finish?

All of our normal 8pm start shows generally finish at about 10:30pm. You can find show finish times individually listed on the event itself when using our online booking system.

Is there a booking fee?

Yes, we do charge a small transaction of £1 for transactions £10 or under and £2 for over £10. Beware of some clubs charging ridiculous booking fees per ticket which can really hike up the price of any group bookings.

How is the show laid out?

The majority of our shows have theatre style seating. All seating is unreserved as you'll be seated on the night.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, you can buy gift vouchers for any of our shows here. All of our gift vouchers are valid for 365 days.

Where is the bar area & can we take food/drinks into the main performance room?

When you come up the main stairs you will come straight into our bar and dining area. Drinks can be taken into the performance room. As we have regular intervals we recommend that you wait until the next interval to go to get drinks to avoid any disruption to the show. Meals are eaten before the show commences in one of our dining areas. There will also be snack/street style food available to purchase during intervals that you can take back into the performance room.

What is the accessibility like at your venues?

Our brand new purpose built venue features full accessibility including a lift from the ground floor with an entrance on Seel Street. Our main entrance is just off Seel Street near 'The Grove' main entrance. We also have full disabled toilet facilities. If attending in a wheelchair, we politely asks that you give us as much notice as possible to ensure we have everything ready for your comfort and enjoyment.

Do you offer concession tickets and what does it cover?

We offer concession tickets for most of our shows.

Senior Citizens (60 and over), Students(library card accepted), NHS Staff, Teachers, Armed Forces, Services (Police, Fire & Ambulance), Registered Disabled (with free entry for one carer) all qualify for our concession discount.

If purchasing a concession priced ticket(s) please ensure that the person the ticket(s) is intended for meets the correct criteria and brings proof of eligibility to show at the booking desk on arrival. You will need a separate proof of concession for each ifndiviual concession ticket.

If a concession ticket is purchased and no ID shown on arrival then you will be asked to pay the difference to make your ticket a normal priced one.

Is there a dress code?

We ask that all customers be dressed, juse wear whatever makes you comfortable , but we do ask that anything that may obstruct the view of another person in the audience not be worn. Fancy dress is also not allowed in the performance room.

Is there food available before the show?

Yes, food is available before all shows. All meals/menus can be viewed/purchased during the normal online booking process. Walk ups are also fine to order food but there may be a wait if you haven't preordered. We always advise leaving enough time before the show start time to comfortable finish your meals and avoid missing any of the comedy show.

How do I book in for food?

Simply order your tickets as normal online and click the food option. your ticket will show the advised arrival time as all meals are eaten in the restaurant before the performance in the theatre.

What time should I arrive for food?

You can book in to arrive at any time for your meal but we advise no alter than 90 minutes before your show time. Obviously for very large groups we'd advise arriving even earlier.

Can you cater for specific dietary requirements?

The chefs at Hot Water Comedy Club can cater for all dietary requirements. Please mention any dietary requirements in the notes section during your booking process.

What is the latest we can arrive?

Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled show start time. This will leave time for you to get drinks at the bar and take your seats before the show starts. We will do our best to seat latecomers but this may be at the next interval to avoid any disruption to the show. If you arrive after 8:15 your tickets may be sold on to walk ups. If you arrive after 8:15pm and the show is sold out then your tickets can be moved to an alternative show in the future.

What is your Cancellation/Transfer policy?

You can cancel tickets up to the day before the scheduled performance. You can also transfer tickets to other shows. All of this can be done when logged in to myhotwater.

I've bought tickets but haven't received them?

All of our online tickets are e-tickets that you should receive as soon as payment has been sent. Please check your 'junk' or 'spam' folder as they sometimes hide in there. All tickets are also bailable to view in myhotwater. If you require any assistance please visit our 'contact us' page.

How to book tickets?

Our shows get very busy so online booking is highly recommended. You can also visit our box office during our opening hours to buy tickets in person. Any remaining tickets will be made available on the door. 

When will I receive my ticket?

You will receive your ticket straight away as an e-ticket once your order is placed. If you do not receive your ticket please log in to 'myhotwater' and double check your email address. Your ticket should be viewable here and available to download.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payments by credit or debit card. For larger groups and companies we can also invoice directly and take payment via bank transfer if preferred. By using a bank transfer there will be no admin/booking fees incurred.
