Alan Stubbs is a former professional footballer from Liverpool, England, who played as a central defender. Born on October 6, 1971, he began his career at Bolton Wanderers, where he established himself as a solid and reliable defender. His performances earned him a move to Celtic in 1996, where he won multiple Scottish Premier League titles and cup competitions.
In 2001, Stubbs fulfilled a childhood dream by signing for Everton, the club he supported as a boy. During his two spells at the club, he became a key figure in their defense, known for his leadership and no-nonsense defending. His resilience extended beyond football, as he battled and overcame testicular cancer twice during his playing career.
After retiring in 2008, Stubbs transitioned into coaching, including managing Hibernian, where he famously led the club to its first Scottish Cup win in over a century in 2016. His career has been defined by both his contributions on the pitch and his inspirational off-field battles.
