Barry Horne is a former Welsh professional footballer, best known for his time as a midfielder with Everton. Born on May 18, 1962, in St Asaph, Wales, Horne began his career with local clubs before making his name at Wrexham. He later played for Portsmouth and Southampton, where his tough-tackling, box-to-box style earned him a reputation as a reliable defensive midfielder.
In 1992, Horne joined Everton, where he became a fan favorite due to his tireless work ethic and leadership qualities. One of his most iconic moments came during the 1993–94 season when he scored a crucial goal against Wimbledon on the final day to help Everton avoid relegation. Known for his determination and leadership, Horne earned over 50 caps for the Welsh national team during his career.
After retiring in 2002, Horne stayed involved in football as a coach and football pundit, while also earning a degree in Chemistry. His contributions to football, both as a player and later in his roles off the pitch, have made him a respected figure in the sport.
